President of Belarus: government should resolve price growth problem

During a meeting with prime minister Sergei Sidorskiy president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko required the government should resolve the problem of price growth. As the head of state noted the sociological polls show that the Belarusians are more concerned with price growth rather than security issues. Referring to the recent data of the ministry of statistics and analysis the president noted that over January 2006 potatoes increased in price by 3.5 per cent, vegetable – almost 8 per cent, fruit – more than 8 per cent, utility services - 5 per cent, healthcare services – 8.5 per cent, personal services – 2 per cent. “I am not going to hush up these problems even before the elections. Yes, we have made some progress, but the problem of price growth affects the mood of people every day… The people is the basis of the state and the overwhelming majority supports the president”, the Belarusian leader stressed.
