Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko demanded that the unemployment problem in the town of Oktyabrskiy (Gomel region) should be resolved within 2-3 years. At present the town's unemployment rate exceeds the country's average. While talking to Oktyabrskiy residents today, the head of state pointed out the necessity to create new jobs in the town.
The president believes, there can be new jobs in the timber processing industry, civil engineering. For example, small construction teams could work both in the district and in Russia, with which Belarus actively co-operates in all spheres. Yet Alexander Lukashenko noted, the local construction workers will have a lot to do. Creating agro-towns involves construction of new social facilities, dwellings. The work will require workforce, therefore the local authorities should get busy with finding an optimal solution to employ residents of the town and the district.
