Government names 113 GDP-forming companies, which should ensure annual GDP growth

In line with resolution #186 of February 9, 2006 the government of Belarus will keep a close eye on 113 companies of the republic and will control how they will meet the main socio-economic targets in 2006. The economy ministry jointly with the ministry of statistics, concerns and oblast executive committees will exercise control and monitor their work. These departments will be also responsible for achieving the socio-economic targets by the aforementioned companies. As BelTA was informed in the Council of Ministers, the document amends resolution of the government #1566 of January 29, 2005 “On approving the main target indices of the forecast of socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus in 2006”. The companies on the list are GDP-forming Belarusian giants, the leading exporters which provide some 75 per cent of the Belarusian exports. This is why the meeting of the development targets largely hinges on them. The main task of these companies is to bring about a 7-8 per cent GDP growth and 6.5-8 per cent production growth in Belarus. The list includes big and middle-size companies of all branches of the agriculture ministry including MAZ, MTZ, Minsk Motor Works, Minsk Plant of Wheeled Truck Tractors, Belshina, Naftan, Gomelsteklo and others.
