Belarus to annul domicile registration

Within the next two years domicile registration is expected to be annulled in Belarus, Belarus interior minister Vladimir Naumov told today’s press conference at the National Press Centre. In his words, domicile registration will be replaced with residence registration. February 2007 is expected to see the consideration of the final version of the bill. The minister also noted, the decision had been initiated not by the law enforcement body, but other agencies interested in taking account of residents. In particular, the issue had been raised by agencies for housing and utilities services.
