Last year the finance ministry of this country allocated Br613,8 billion or 99.8% of the funds planned to implement actions of the governmental program on mitigating consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe for 2006-2010, acting chief of the Chernobyl department of the emergencies ministry of Belarus Vladimir Chernikov has stated today at a meeting of the board of his department.
According to him, the allocated funds let completely meet the targets of the governmental program for 2006, take protective measures in the agricultural sector and to purchase potash fertilizers worth of more than Br14 billion for the current year.
The actions financed due to capital investments were successfully implemented as well. According to Vladimir Chernikov, 3.4 % more construction operations were performed at the Chernobyl objects than it was scheduled. Targets on building facilities of the Chernobyl department of the emergencies ministry, included in the governmental investment program, were also met.
No cases of exceeding radiation permissible levels in foodstuffs produced in the public sector were registered due to the protective measures taken in the agro-industrial complex. Some 28 agricultural companies of Gomel and Mogilev oblasts, which had some problems with the production of “clean” foodstuffs, started respecialization programs. Respecialization programs were drawn up for 11 agricultural companies more. They will be implemented in 2007-2010.
Positive results were reached in international cooperation, in particular with the government of the People’s Republic of China. Interaction with influential international organizations such as the World Bank was expanded as well.
