Gomel, 9 October (BelTA) – Scottish scouts are expected to give several English lessons in the Gomel gymnasiums. Gomel students, in turn, will teach the Scottish speak Russian. The decision was taken in a meeting of Chairman of the Gomel town council Sergei Poroshin and the head of a group of scouts, member of the civil organization “Friends of Gomel” on 8 October.
A delegation of scouts from Aberdeen, Scotland, is paying a visit to Gomel on 7 to 14 October. The guests are meeting with schoolpupils and teachers of Gomel gymnasiums, students of the foreign languages department of Gomel State University. The programme of the visit also includes excursions and visits to museums, companies, sports facilities of the town.
Gomel and Aberdeen established their relations in 1990. For the time being the two sides have been able to implement a lot of joint projects including in the health, education and youth policy areas. Close cooperation has been developed between schools and universities of the two towns.
