One company now runs Druzhba oil pipeline system in Belarus

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian companies in charge of operating the oil pipeline system Druzhba – OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba and OAO Polotsktransneft Druzhba – have been merged into one company as of 1 October, BelTA learned from representatives of OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba.
The decision to merge the two companies was made at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. OAO Polotsktransneft Druzhba will operate as part of the Gomel-based company as the oil transportation division Novopolotsk.
OAO Gomeltransneft Druzhba is responsible for pumping Russian oil towards Europe and for supplying Mozyr Oil Refinery with hydrocarbon resources. With the acquisition of the new branch, the company will become responsible for supplying Russian oil to the oil refinery Naftan and for transporting oil products across Belarus.
The reorganization is expected to create a more effective management system. In the future the merger will allow implementing projects to develop the national oil transportation system, including for the sake of diversifying oil deliveries to the oil refineries and for expanding the oil storage capacity.
