GOMEL, 14 May (BelTA) – $560 million worth of investment agreements and memorandums of understanding will be signed at the Gomel Economic Forum which is due on 16 May, Gomel Oblast Vice Governor Boleslav Pirshtuk told media on 13 May, BelTA has learned.
These projects will be voiced at a plenary meeting which will also feature the signing ceremony. “A project with the participation of a Ukrainian businessman looks highly promising. The businessman will invest $40 million in the soya processing production at the Mozyr company Etanol. Ukraine will deliver raw material which will be processed into alcohol or alcohol-containing liquids. The investor will sell the final product. Soybean meal will stay in the oblast for animal fodder. We import almost all of this protein. Of course its price at this production will be lower,” the official said.
If the future production works well, the investor is ready to invest another $400 million in Etanol. The matter pertains maize processing. “The businessman is talking about very interesting figure: he will be able to process 1.5 million tonnes of maize per year,” Boleslav Pirshtuk said.
