GOMEL, 19 October (BelTA) – The Gomel oblast and the Mazandaran Province of Iran signed a memorandum of cooperation. The agreement was signed by Chairman of the oblast executive committee Alexander Yakobson and Mazandaran Province Governor Seyyed Mohammad Karimi on 17 October, BelTA has learnt.
The two sides also sealed protocols on cooperation in the economic and agricultural sectors and between the chambers of commerce and industry. The authorities of Gomel and the town of Sari, the administrative center of the Mazandaran province, signed a protocol on establishing twin-town relations.
The ceremony of signing the documents concluded the work of the Belarusian-Iranian regional economic forum that was held in Gomel. The Gomel oblast presented around 60 investment proposals which are of interest for Iranian businessmen. Heads of the 45 largest Iranian companies operating in various industries from the production of food to steel-smelting furnaces, coal-fired power plants, and other metal products partook in the forum.
Chairman of the oblast executive committee Alexander Yakobson praised the results of the visit and those agreements that were signed during the forum. “I am confident our cooperation have very good prospects,” he stressed.
