Gomel Oblast delegation on visit to China

The delegation of Belarus' Gomel Oblast led by Governor Ivan Krupko left for the People's Republic of China on 29 August to hold business events in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, BelTA learned from the Telegram-channel Gomelshchina Officially.

The delegation includes heads of enterprises of the Belarusian region.

According to Ivan Krupko, the products made in Gomel Oblast continue to win the Chinese market. Thus, Kalinkovichi meat processing plant shipped a trial batch of canned food worth $202,600 in May. Kalinkovichi dairy plant resumed deliveries of skimmed and whole milk powder in April. “The enterprise's capacities make it possible to ship up to 160 tonnes of packaged milk powder every month,” the governor said.

Zhlobin meat processing plant has applied for certification of canned meat and chilled beef for supplies to the Chinese market. Milkavita is working to resume supplies of sterilized milk, the governor added.

“Since the start of the year, Gomel Oblast's foreign trade with the People's Republic of China soared 46%, or almost $188 million,” the governor said.

The current trip is the first one for the region's delegation to China after the pandemic.

“Cooperation between the two regions began in 2015 with the signing of an interregional agreement in the presence of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping,” representatives of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee recalled. A twinning agreement between Gomel Oblast and Sichuan Province was signed in 2021.
