Belarus wins 11 gold medals at World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarusian artists won eleven gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the 14th World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles on 17-25 July, chief of the team Margarita Korzun told a press conference. The Belarusian team included Piotr Elfimov (vocal), Pavel Nevmerzhitsky (accordion), Diana Gromova (vocal) and Palesskaya Zorachka dance group from Mozyr. Piotr Yelfimov won five golds in the 30 and over nomination (Male Vocal Broadway, Male Vocal Contemporary, Male Vocal Open, Male Vocal Opera, Male Vocal Original Works). Palesskaya Zorachka claimed three gold medals in the 13-15 years old nomination (Group Dance Ethnic/Folklore, Group Dance Musical Theater, Group Dance Open). Diana Gromova was named best in the Female Vocal Open 13-15 and Female Vocal Original Works. She picked up bronze in Female Vocal World nomination. Pavel Nevmerzhitsky got gold in the Male Instrument Contemporary (25-29 age group). He ranked second in the Male Instrument Open and Male Instrument Original Works. Junior and Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World titles were awarded to representatives from the Philippines and the United States. The Belarusian team is also set to have meetings with Belarusian, Russian and Polish diasporas in Los Angeles, Chicago and Milwaukee. They will also meet with agents, producers and representatives of the entertainment industry. World Championships of Performing Arts is a professional contest of young artists annually held in Hollywood. Hundreds of representatives from the entertainment industry (agents, managers, casting directors, producers, record labels) are invited to judge, conduct seminars at the world championships for talent. Apart from traditional awards (gold, silver and bronze winners) the jury determines the absolute champions in various categories (around 60 categories in eight age groups). The Belarusian artists get back home on 2 August.
