GOMEL, 25 September (BelTA) – The demand for agro-ecotourism services in the Gomel oblast five times exceeds the supply, BelTA learnt from deputy head of the department for physical education, sports and tourism of the Gomel oblast executive committee Vadim Karmazin.
In his words, the tourism development in the region has been gathering pace. Over the last three years there have been constructed 61 farmsteads in the oblast, 30 of them were built in 2009. At least twenty more tourism facilities will be built by the end of the year.
According to Vadim Karmazin, the construction of so-called tourist villages with well-developed infrastructure is seen as a promising outlook for the agro-ecotourism development in the region.
All in all an estimated 2,500 people went to the Gomel oblast on recuperation this summer. Agro farmsteads Panski Sad (Mozyr region), Milogradskaya (Rechitsa region), Khutorok (Petrikov region), Svidnoye (Lelchitsy region) and others are immensely popular with the Belarusian people as well as foreigners.
