The Union State budget will allocate funds to sponsor recuperation holidays of about 1,600 children from Belarusian and Russian regions affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe, BelTA learnt in the Union State Permanent Committee. In September 700 children of Gomel, Bryansk, Tula oblasts and Altai Krai will go to sanatoria located on the Black Sea shore nearby Tuapse. The other 900 children will spend their recuperation holidays in Moscow, Minsk, Vitebsk and Grodno oblasts. According to the data of the Union State Permanent Committee, all the sanatoria are fitted with up-to-date medical equipment. Each child will be examined to receive relevant treatment. During their stay in sanatoria children will also have an opportunity to study. For these purposes classrooms, language labs, libraries and computer classes have been prepared. In addition, there will be various entertainment programmes, after school and sports activities. Starting from 2002 the Union State Permanent Committee has been organizing rehabilitation and recuperation programmes for children from Chernobyl-affected regions of Belarus and Russia. In the last two years about RUB 30 million were spent to fund holidays of more than 3,000 children.
