The Head of State, Alexander Lukashenko, has signed Executive Order No 423рп “On Approving the Decision of the Council of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Social Support of Gifted School and University Students”.
This document approves the decision of the Council of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Social Support of Gifted School and University Students, BelTA was told in the president’s press service. In accordance with the decision, the Fund has provided financial encouragement to 859 people, financial support to two student research societies and student research laboratory “Physical and Chemical Properties of Elements and Processes”.
The Head of State has established 96 scholarships to the best students of state-run institutions of higher education and Belarusian Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperation. Br 96 million has been allocated for these scholarships.
Money prizes have been awarded to students-winners of first, second and third class diplomas at the final round of the national Olympiad in various subjects 2007, winners of the 18th national contest of scientific biological-ecological works, and also the national professional excellence contests 2007.
Money prizes to the tune of Br1705 thousand, Br1395 thousand and Br1240 thousand and a badge of the prizewinner of the Fund have been granted to two winners of the 15th international Olympiad in ecological projects, 18 prizewinners of international Olympiads in various subjects 2007, 24 winners of the 4th international Olympiad in economic, financial disciplines and management 2007.
In 2008, monthly scholarships at the amount of Br124 thousand and a badge of the prizewinner of the Fund have been established for five winners of international Olympiad in various subjects 2007.
Financial assistance has been provided to students’ research lab of Belarusian State University, scientific societies of the educational establishments “Technology gymnasium No 13 of Minsk” and “Gymnasium No 50 of Minsk”. Each of these establishments will receive Br9 million to develop material and technical and methodological bases.
This Executive Order bears witness to the targeted, purposeful support given by the President to the talented youth. This support aims to encourage school and university students to fulfil themselves, reveal their aptitudes and potential, and to create an enabling environment for creative educational and research activities.
