Sergei Sidorsky wants Belarusian companies to do their best to save energy resources

Belarusian companies should put all their efforts into saving energy resources and assimilating new less power-hungry technologies, Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky told today’s government session in Lida. The session was dedicated to the work the Lida region executive committee had done to fulfil Belarus President Directive No. 3 of June 14, 2007 “Saving and frugality — the main factors in ensuring the national economic security”. According to Sergei Sidorsky, at present companies have to upgrade their production facilities within as short a time as possible, without dragging the process for years. The accomplishment will prevent prices for energy resources on the home market from going up. It is important for the companies to really start saving energy resources, including saving via using locally available fuels, noted the head of government. He added, there are enough such kinds of fuels in the country. The Prime Minister was satisfied with the job the Lida region authorities had done to fulfil Directive No. 3: a corresponding programme had been adopted in the region and it is being fulfilled. Yet Sergei Sidorsky pointed out the need to step up efforts to implement industry-branch energy saving programmes in other regions of the country. All in all, the GDP’s energy consumption is supposed to go down by 30% by 2010 and by 50% by 2015. Efforts should be taken nationwide to secure the figures, stressed the Prime Minister.
