S. Sidorskiy: 2007 budget performance is based on economy and frugality

The 2007 budget performance will be based on economy and frugality, prime minister of this country Sergei Sidorskiy has said at today’s session of the finance ministry board. Financial bodies of Belarus play an important role in this process, he underlined. No matter how the economy develops a financier will remain a key figure who distributes, controls and is held answerable for the use of financial resources. “Whether you approve the expenditures which can be avoided or encourage a businessman to set up an efficient production depends on you”, the premier said addressing specialists of the finance ministry. Speaking about economy and frugality Sergei Sidorskiy did not mean small things as pencils and paper but huge money, which should be carefully invested. In the near future the head of state will sign Directive#3 on economy and frugality, the prime minister underlined. It will concern the rational use of budget funds. The head of government has informed that this year budget revenues will make up Br40 trillion. GDP is expected to reach Br93 trillion. Five years ago Belarus’ annual budget was a bit more than Br10 trillion, GDP – Br17 trillion, Sergei Sidorskiy underlined. “The revenues are higher. So are the expenditures”, the premier said. That is why the financial bodies of the country should look for the ways to reduce expenses and encourage economic entities to do the same.
