Russian food watchdog experts to arrive in Belarus July 15 to examine dairy producers

Starting October 1, 2007, Belarusian dairy exports to Russia will be allowed only to the companies certified by the Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation, head of the central veterinary department of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry Alexander Aksenov told BelTA. He noted, a programme of inspections by Russian experts had been prepared and an invitation to the Russian food watchdog had been sent. The inspections will begin with dairy producers located in the Mogilev and Gomel oblasts. All in all, 71 producers will have to pass the examination. A team of the Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision is expected to arrive in Belarus approximately on July 15. At present dairy exports account for 64% of the total export of enterprises run by the Agriculture and Food Ministry. The Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision promised to issue export permits early next week to 13 examined meat-packing companies of the Mogilev and Gomel oblasts.
