Prime minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorskiy has criticized state agencies for poor results in the implementation of the state program of reconstruction and commissioning of incomplete sports facilities for 2006-2008. The program was high on the agenda of a session of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers on February 20.
In line with the program, some 22 facilities had to have been commissioned in 2006, including 10 after the reconstruction. However, only 11 facilities were sent in service. “It never happened before. Just half of the facilities listed in the presidential decree have been put in operation,” Sergei Sidorskiy said.
He believes that state agencies failed to deliver in 2006. “The most absurd thing about it is that you are trying to convince us that you are working efficiently. You have compiled the list of facilities to be inaugurated in regions, you have received the money but you have failed to commission half of the objects,” the prime minister said.
Sergei Sidorskiy tasked to analyze the reasons why the 2006 targets were not achieved, to assess the performance of the organizations who won the tenders to construct them as well as the activities of the officials who were in charge. The prime minister required that the measures be taken to make sure that the targets of the program are met in 2007.
