Today, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has received the highest award of the Russian Orthodox Church given to laymen, the Order of the Grand Prince St. Vladimir 1st class. The award has been presented by Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret, the Patriarch of All Belarus, during the celebrations on the occasion of consecrating the recently re-created reliquary of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk, the presidential press-service told BelTA.
The award has been conferred on Alexander Lukashenko in recognition of his significant contribution to developing inter-church and interstate relations, the press-service said.
