Over Br 1.5 billion foreign aid channeled into reconstruction of Planeta children’s summer camp

More than Br 1.5 million worth of foreign grants has been funneled into the reconstruction of the children’s summer camp Planeta in the Minsk region administrated by the Department for Humanitarian Issues of the State Property Management Department of the President of Belarus. Apart from that, Belarusian public organizations bought 102 camp vouchers for children living in contaminated regions of Gomel oblast and children from low-income families. Over the last few years a lot has been done to improve the recreational opportunities of the camp, Director of the Department for Humanitarian Issues Alexander Kolyada told BelTA. He stressed that the Department for Humanitarian Issues has been doing its utmost to attract funds to sponsor recuperation holidays for Belarusian children. For this purpose, the department organizes meetings with heads of foreign charities and has established close cooperation with Belarusian consulates abroad. Among the public organizations sponsoring children’s recuperation holidays in Planeta are Tree of Life, Fund of Mercy and Health, Planet of Children, World for Children, Help and their foreign partners: Tree of Life, Madonna of Mercy, Florence, Legambiente Solidarieta, etc. Foreign grants are also used to fund recuperation holidays in the children’s rehabilitation and recuperation centers Nadezhda 21st Century of the Vileika region, Zhdanovichi of the Minsk region, Zhemchuzhina of the Kobrin region.
