Observer: elections in Belarus comply with international standards

The electoral laws in Belarus and the election campaign comply with the international standards, BelTA was told by Dr. in Law Atanas Popov from Bulgaria who observes the presidential poll in Gomel oblast. “I am well familiar with the standard election documents in other countries, Atanas Popov said and can say that the Belarusian laws give every opportunity for people to make a free choice”. Sharing the impressions the Bulgarian observer noted high responsibility of Belarusian voters. “These are the people confident in themselves, ready to defend their interests and ready to decide upon the future of their country”, he stressed. Unfortunately the international politics has not rid of double standards. However this should not confuse the Belarusians as the truth is asserted by the people themselves, Anatas Popov noted.
