Minsk oblast wins republican harvesting competition

The board of the Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs of Belarus jointly with the republican committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agro-Industrial Workers and the oblast executive committees summed up the results of the 2007 republican grain harvesting and fodder conservation competition. As BelTA learnt from the Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuffs, Minsk oblast won the republican harvesting contest. Its gross grain yield totalled 1 million 979 thousand tonnes or 22% more as against 2006. This year Minsk oblast produced one third of the whole grain harvested in the country. The following regions were announced the winners of the republican grain harvesting competition: Baranovichi and Brest regions of Brest oblast, Orsha and Vitebsk regions of Vitebsk oblast, Vetka and Rechitsa regions of Gomel oblast, Ostrovets and Grodno regions of Grodno oblast, Kletsk and Minsk regions of Minsk oblast and Krichev and Mogilev regions of Mogilev oblast. Brest, Vitebsk, Rechitsa, Grodno, Minsk and Mogilev regions won the competition for the second time. The following agricultural companies were named best: Belovezhsky Co. of the Kamenets region and Poultry Farm Druzhba of the Baranovichi region, Agricultural Centre Yubileiny of the Orsha region, Krivsk of the Buda-Koshelevo region, Oktiabr-Grodno of the Grodno region, a subsidiary of Agricultural Centre Dzerzhinsky – Pyatogorje Co., Agricultural Centre Snov of the Nesvizh region, Oktiabr of the Mstislavl region and Agricultural Centre Zarya of the Mogilev region. Besides, three companies - Poultry Farm Druzhba, the agricultural centres Snov and Zarya were nominated for the first place for the second time. Best senior combine operators working in the agricultural companies and mechanized units including best combine operators – members of the youth teams as well as best chief agronomists were also announced. Among those who took the first place are senior combine operators Vladimir Goncharov (Kroshin Co. of the Baranovichi region), Mikhail Poleschuk (Brest Raiagroservis), Alexander Gran (Kolkhoz Chyrvony Styag of the Rechitsa region), Leonid Doroshkevich (Avangard-Agro Co. of the Novogrudok region), Mikhail Saladukha (Agricultural Centre Zhdanovichi of the Minsk region), Sergei Demyanov (Amkodor-Shklov Co. of the Shklov region). Honorary diplomas, cash bonuses and valuable gifts will be given to the winners of the competition at the republican harvest festival-fair Dazhynki-2007 in Rechitsa (Gomel oblast).
