President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has tasked the Government to index retirement pensions in September. As BelTA was told in the presidential press service, a corresponding commission was given to the Belarusian Premier today at a meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Sergei Sidorsky.
“Within the next three days the Council of Ministers will draft a decree of the President of Belarus on indexing pensions by 7-8%,” said Sergei Sidorsky.
The Belarusian PM informed the President that in August this year the average retirement pension totaled $136 in Belarus. “According to the statistical data, the analogous index made $131 in Russia and $110 in Ukraine,” the Premier underlined.
The Government offered the President to increase retirement pensions in November-December 2007. “However, Alexander Lukashenko turned down the offer and tasked the Government to index pensions in September and possibly in November this year,” Sergei Sidorsky said after the meeting.
