Heads of criminal militia of Belarus and Ukraine to discuss tackling crime

Tackling organized crime and corruption will be discussed at a regional cooperation meeting of criminal militia agencies of the Belarusian and Ukrainian interior ministries due today in Mozyr. According to the information given to BelTA by chief of the information and PR department of the Belarusian interior ministry Ekaterina Samusenkova-Shelegova, the event will be opened by first deputy foreign minister of Belarus Mayor General of militia Alexander Schurko and deputy interior minister of Ukraine Mayor General of militia Vladimir Evdokimov. The participants of the meeting will consider issues on counteracting organized crime and corruption, economic crimes, trafficking in people and drugs, car thefts, Hi-tech crimes. Special attention will be paid to raising efficiency of cooperation between interior agencies in bordering regions. The meeting is expected to result in signing a document to boost cooperation of the two countries’ criminal militia in combating crime. Attending the meeting will be heads of criminal militia agencies of Belarusian and Ukrainian interior ministries, leadership of oblast interior ministries’ departments. Deputy state secretary of the Security Council Vladimir Shafarenko, deputy prosecutor general Boris Tarletskiy, chairmen of Gomel oblast and Mozyr town executive committees Alexander Yakobson and Valentin Borisenko respectively are expected to turn up as well.
