Gas stove plant to be built in Gomel

During his working trip to Gomel oblast today Belarus prime minister Sergei Sidorskiy commissioned interested agencies with working out a coordinated solution for the development of gas stove production capacities in the country. The solution should be worked out using proposals of Atlant, Brestgazoapparat, and Gomel-based Elektroapparatura. The latter is supposed to house premises of the new gas stove plant. At present Elektroapparatura can turn out up to 60,000 stoves annually. However, the existing model needs re-designing, which can be done by Atlant. In the future the output is expected to become large enough to use the distribution network of the Minsk-based company. In the nearest future this and other issues should be thought out and presented to the head of government. The new gas stove, which is expected to use Belarusian technologies and materials, will be roughly twice as cheaper as foreign analogues with the rivalling quality. The gas stove’s producer price may slightly exceed Br200,000. The government plans to buy some 40,000 stoves as part of the village revival and development programme. According to Sergei Sidorskiy, the creation of the gas stove plant in Gomel will be a step towards setting up a Belarusian holding company in charge of producing the entire range of the so-called “white household appliances” — refrigerators, washing machines, dish washers, gas and electric stoves, microwaves, and others.
