The Eurasian Economic Community member states have started forming a real Customs Union, Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky said in Minsk on November 15 when meeting with EurAsEC SecGen Tair Mansurov. The meeting was held on the eve of the Moscow session of the EurAsEC Interstate Council of Heads of Government.
Welcoming Tair Mansurov as a new EurAsEC Secretary General, Sergei Sidorsky said that “we are glad you are paying your first visit to Belarus”. The head of the Belarusian Government noted that Belarus has always actively supported decisions on forming the single Customs Union within the EurAsEC framework. “We have chosen the right path,” Sergei Sidorsky underlined. Some 17 issues will be considered at the forthcoming session of the EurAsEC Council of Heads of Government, he noted. The preparation of the EurAsEC regulatory framework will help considerably expand export between the participating countries.
In turn, Tair Mansurov took note of the active role Belarus plays in the EurAsEC. According to him, the most fruitful work was done in 2006 – when Belarus presided over the Community. According to Tair Mansurov, “today the whole international community is following the creation of the Customs Union, which should be completed in three years. That is why we should be more mobile and at the first stage promote integration between three countries – Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan.”
