Efforts aimed at creating a new type of cultural establishments will continue in Belarusian towns and agro-towns in 2007 as part of the state village revival and development programme, BelTA learnt from head of the culture and folk art establishments department of the Belarusian culture ministry Vasiliy Chernik.
In his words, the new-type cultural establishments are envisaged as libraries coupled with entertainment centres, libraries plus museums, libraries on wheels and leisure centres. Special attention will be paid to creating culture palaces that will comprise branches of art schools, rural libraries, children’s sport schools, cafes, audience halls, dancing halls and open-air dancing grounds. Such culture palaces are expected to provide quality all-round culture services to residents of rural settlements. Creators of such cultural establishments will take into account local social standards this or that agro-town possesses.
Two new-generation cultural establishments — a culture palace and a children’s library coupled with a centre for children and youth — will be opened in the agro-town of Glushkovichi, Lelchitsy district, and the town of Lelchitsy on January 19.
