JSC Beltransgaz and Gazprom signed a contract for gas delivery to Belarus and its transit across the territory of this republic in 2006. On December 27 the document was signed by deputy chairman of Gazprom Alexander Ryazanov and Beltransgaz general director Dmitriy Kazakov, the press-service of the Russian gas concern told BelTA.
In line with the contract, in 2006 Gazprom will deliver 21 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Belarus including 1,5 billion cubic meters if technical opportunity occurs. The gas price and tariff for the gas transportation will remain at the level of 2005. So, 1 thousand cubic meters of gas will cost USD 46,68.
According to its press-service, Gazprom is shifting to the market principles of cooperation with all importers of Russian gas and Belarus makes no exception here. Several circumstances were taken into account while defining the price and transportation tariff for 2006. First, Russia and Belarus are creating the Union State and this presupposes single standards for setting financial and economic targets for both the states.
Second, in 2005 Gazprom became the owner of the Belarusian sector of the gas main Yamal-Europe which is responsible for transportation of more than 50 per cent of the Russian gas coming across Belarus. Besides, Gazprom registered the documents for long-term lease of the land under this sector of the main.
Third, in 2005 negotiations were resumed to set up a joint enterprise under the Beltransgaz to manage the Belarusian gas-transportation system.
So, Gazprom stresses, the prices set in the contract are well-grounded economically . Gazprom’s policy towards Belarus benefits all shareholders of the company – the state and private investors.
