Belarusians in Bulgaria will get legal the same legal assistance as local residents

The mutual legal assistance treaty in civil cases will help set up necessary conditions to protect the rights and interests of citizens and legal entities of the two countries, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Valery Voronetsky told reporters. A ceremony of exchanging the instruments of ratification of the treaty took place in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry on November 30. Bulgaria was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Evgenia Koldanova. “The document comes into force on December 29 this year. It is very important in terms of providing legal assistance to citizens and legal entities of the two countries. Under the treaty, when in the Republic of Bulgaria Belarusian citizens and legal entities will enjoy the same rights for legal protection as the citizens of that country. The treaty is based on the reciprocal principle,” Valery Voronetsky said. Ms Evgenia Koldanova said that the number of Belarusian visitors to Bulgaria has been increasing. In 2007, 25 Belarusians went on holiday to Bulgaria. “The legal assistance treaty will be of great help for Belarusian citizens in certain situations in Bulgaria,” she added.
