Belarus president needs prosecution to crack down on bureaucracy

Belarus president demanded that the prosecution should harshly respond to bureaucracy and red tape in all state administration agencies. The topic was unearthed today, as prosecutor general Piotr Miklashevich delivered a report to the head of state. The press service of the Belarusian leader informed BelTA, the president had given an instruction to ensure an effective prosecution control over the fulfilment of Directive No. 2 Measures for Further De-Bureaucratization of State Administration. According to Piotr Miklashevich, last year special attention was paid to the fulfilment of laws regulating the processing of people’s applications. Around 45,000 applications were processed. Their concerns were mainly related to violations of labour, housing and other social rights. One in five of the applications was justified and triggered a specific response, which restored the violated rights of citizens. After inspections carried out by the prosecution 830 officials of state administration agencies and organisations faced disciplinary and administrative action for formalistic attitude during the consideration of people’s applications. The president noted, by exercising control over the precise and uniform execution of laws, the prosecution contributed a lot to ensuring the social and economic stability, reinforcing the law and order, building up a reliable protection of people’s rights and freedoms.
