Belarus wants to join efforts with law enforcement bodies of Russia and Ukraine to fight crime, president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said today while meeting with interior minister of Russia Rashid Nurgaliev and interior minister of Ukraine Vasiliy Tsushko. Attending the meeting was Belarus' interior minister Vladimir Naumov.
Alexander Lukashenko focused his attention on the importance of expanding contacts between law enforcement bodies of the three countries. Contacts between criminals have become stronger after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, he said. Belarus, Russia and Ukraine are at the crossroads of all trade routes and criminals try to use it. “This is why our cooperation is very important at the global level,” he added.
The president underscored the importance of the fact that today’s meeting is taking place in Minsk where everything has been done for fruitful work. The head of state said in case of necessity he is ready to assist in solving issues that may arise.
“We are always glad to welcome you here and we will always welcome your suggestions to hold a joint sitting in Ukraine or Russia and to take joint actions if it is in the interests of the peoples of our three Slavonic states,” the president said.
