Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko has stated that the Belarusian defense capacity is growing steadily and the Armed Forces are developing in all fields.
At today’s Security Council meeting the head of state stressed that the country’s leadership rejected the mechanical reduction of the military in the 1990s launching a comprehensive qualitative modernization of the Armed Forces instead.
At the same time the president stated that alertness checks and verifications of the military equipment in a number of units showed that not all problems are addressed promptly and fully. The new plan for development of the Armed Forces for the upcoming five years will be considered at the Security Council meeting. The plan envisages prevention of similar negative trends in the future, the head of state stressed.
According to him, the meeting carried out an all-round analysis of the efficiency of reforming of the Armed Forces and military sphere of the country on the whole. “We should clearly see our goals and tasks given dynamic development of the military and political environment in the world and in our region, to estimate our potential and new challenges and threats for the country’s security, first of all, in the military field”, the Belarusian leader said.
