Alexander Lukashenko: forecast indexes for 2001-2005 surpassed

Not only were the targets for 2001-2005 met, they were surpassed, Alexander Lukashenko declared when delivering a speech at a sitting on the draft forecast of the socio-economic development, budget and main guidelines of the monetary and credit policy of the country for 2006. Over the five years the industrial production grew by 50 per cent while the forecast was 28-32 per cent, investments to the fixed capital – by 77 per cent (forecast – 60-70 per cent), real incomes – by 76 per cent (as against 58-63 per cent expected). According to the head of state, it shows that “we managed to determine the right strategy of development, to mobilize resources and people for settling large-scale goals”. As Alexander Lukashenko underlined, draft documents envisage the socio-economic development of the country in 2006. Their specificity is driven by the fact that the year of 2006 determines dynamism of the country's development within the next five years. The president considers that the economy's development depends on the country’s appropriately chosen basic positions.
