On August 30 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko chaired a meeting focusing on prospects of the development of the High-Tech Park in Belarus.
The Park of High Technologies was set up by president’s decree #12 of September 22, 2005.
Director of the High-Tech Park administration Valery Tsepkalo reported that there are 29 companies, one sole trader and six business-projects registered in the park. Belarusian companies account for 60%, foreign companies account for 27%, joint ventures – 13% of the total.
As of July 1, 2007 High-Tech Park had 3,260 employees, of them 65% were people under 30.
In H1 2007 High-Tech Park residents produced over Br 50 billion worth of goods and services, an increase of 2.7 times on the same time last year. The budget revenues totaled Br6.2 billion. High-Tech Park exports accounted for 82.5% of the total output. The domestic demand for High-Tech Park products is now low, though it is expected to grow on a year-to-year basis.
