Belarus considers the United Arab Emirates to be its main trading partner in the Persian Gulf region, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said on October 1 when meeting with Khaldoon Khalifa al Mubarak, the Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of the Government of Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates.
“We have exactly determined our strategic ally and partner in the Persian Gulf region. This is the United Arab Emirates and we are interested in our stronger presence in this part of the planet,” Alexander Lukashenko underlined. According to the Belarusian Head of State, during his last visit to the UAE in March of the current year the sides reached an agreement on cooperation in petrochemistry, energy, military-technical sphere, construction, transport, space technologies, industry, sport and tourism. An intergovernmental working group was set up to carry out projects in the aforementioned spheres. “I will be pleased if we draw up concrete programmes in these fields”, said the President.

According to the President, the United Arab Emirates expressed readiness to invest in Belarus’ economy and Belarus “can offer hundreds of variants of cooperation patterns.”
In turn, Khaldoon Khalifa al Mubarak confirmed that the UAE attaches great importance to the relations with Belarus. He conveyed Alexander Lukashenko warm wishes from the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
