On May 3, the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, met with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Artur Rasizade. The talks focused on practical issues of the bilateral cooperation.
Alexander Lukashenko was pleased with the level of cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan and praised the way bilateral agreements were being fulfilled. Cooperation with Azerbaijan, he said, might become for Belarus a good example to follow in its interaction with other countries, the presidential press-service told BelTA.
“Yesterday, the President of Azerbaijan and I had fruitful talks. With no other state have we ever reached agreements on a specific programme of actions so quickly. This is a good example for us, as well as for others,” the Belarusian leader said.
Alexander Lukashenko said, during this visit the Azerbaijani and Belarusian sides reaffirmed their interest in each other and their intentions to intensify cooperation.
The Belarusian President thanked Azerbaijan for its readiness to cooperate with Belarus in various spheres.
After the talks, Alexander Lukashenko visited the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The President of Belarus went to see the exposition of the Foundation and signed the VIP Visitors Book. “The life of Heydar Aliyev is a manifestation of wisdom, an example of selfless, courageous and large-scale activity. His ideas and spiritual legacy will promote prosperity of the great Azerbaijani people,” the President wrote in the Book.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation develops and fulfills projects in the spheres of science, education, culture, healthcare, sport, ecology and international humanitarian cooperation. It plays a very important role in the process of addressing urgent social issues.
On the same day Alexander Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the National Exhibition of the Republic of Belarus in Azerbaijan. The Presidents went to see the exposition of products presented by more than 200 Belarusian companies including MAZ, MTZ, Amkodor, Gomselmash, Belshina, and others.
The exhibition also served a good showcase of Belarusian investment potential. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus presented its innovations. While at the exhibition, the President of Azerbaijan praised the quality of Belarusian products. At the exhibition the issue of enlarging the assembly of Belarusian tractors in Azerbaijan was discussed and specific instructions were given.
After the exhibition, Alexander Lukashenko and Ilham Aliyev continued their discourse during a joint lunch.
On May 3, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, ended his official visit to Azerbaijan.
