New economic opportunities for Russia will benefit Belarus as well. The statement to this effect was made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the meeting with Russia’s Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov on October 19 in Minsk, BelTA learnt in the presidential press service.

A Belarusian-Austrian joint venture will be set up at Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno in H1 2008 to produce viscose industrial threads, Director General of Svetlogorsk Khimvolokno Vasily Kostyukevich told media on October 18.

Belarus is ready to boost cooperation with Japan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with Kyodo, a Japanese news agency, on October 18.

The acquiring of the sovereign rating gives Belarus an opportunity to increase foreign investment in its economy, Herbert Stepic, CEO of Raiffeisen International Bank-Holding AG, told reporters in Vienna.

In January-September this year the Belarusian GDP totaled Br 69.5 trillion in actual prices, an increase of 8.4% in comparable prices as against same time last year, BelTA learnt in the Ministry of Statistics and Analysis.
