Region

Loyev District is located in the southeastern part of Gomel Oblast. The district borders on Bragin District, Khoiniki District, Rechitsa District, and Gomel District.

Loyev District borders on Ukraine’s Chernihiv Oblast in the east along the Dnieper River and partially in the lower reach of the Sozh River.

The district occupies 104,553ha, including 42,423 ha of farmlands (including 22,110 ha of croplands and 20,041ha of meadow lands) and 43,078 ha of forests.

The Dnieper River and its tributaries Sozh, Braginka, Pesochanka cross the district. The Dnieper-Bragin water reservoir is located inside the district.

The administrative, economic, and cultural capital is the town of Loyev. It is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River 98 km away from the oblast capital Gomel and 60km away from the nearest railway station in the town of Rechitsa.

The administrative division of the district comprises the town of Loyev and seven rural councils (Byvalki, Karpovka, Kolpen, Malinovka, Ruchayovka, Stradubka, Uborok). There are 71 populated localities in the district. The district is home to 11,2 people.
