Over 150 war veterans from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine take part in meeting near Friendship Monument

Over 150 veterans from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine took part in a meeting near the Friendship Monument at the border of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. The meeting is traditionally held on the eve on the International Children's Day. Chairperson of the veteran club “Prometei” Lidiya Yelovaya told BelTA, the first meeting of veterans of the three Slavonic republics took place 9 years before. It was initiated by the Gomel club. As part of the present meeting an amateur talents concert was arranged. Joint plans of cooperation of veteran organisations were discussed. According to the source, such meetings are, first of all, aimed at building up friendly ties between the three brotherly nations and raising patriotic awareness of the younger generation. Many of the participants of the present meeting took an active part in youth forums years before. This year’s event was initiated by the Russian side.
