In January 2006 milk production in Gomel oblast made 37,3 thousand ton and grew by 13 per cent against the same period of 2005, a BelTA correspondent was told by head of the cattle breeding and pedigree stock department of the Gomel oblast executive committee Alexander Lazuta.
The gross milk yield grew first of all due to the increase in productivity of milk cows. The average yield of milk made 225 kilos per cow or 33 kilos more than in January 2005.
According to Alexander Lazuta, all regions of the oblast reported the increase in milk yield. The following regions reported the highest growth: the Gomel region – 21 per cent, the Dobrush region – 32 per cent and Svetlogorsk region – 24 per cent.
In February Gomel oblast plans to get 30 kilos of milk per cow more than in February 2005.
