Gomel oblast reports first cases of flodding in settlements

The melting of snow and heavy rains in Lelchitsy region, Gomel oblast, has caused flodding of around 30 houses, deputy head of the regional office of the emergencies ministry Gennadiy Revutskiy told BelTA. According to him, water from melted snow is high in lowlands. Several households have been flooded as well as enterprises in the district centre, villages of Glushkovichi, Bukhcha, Dubrova and others. Gennadiy Revutskiy informed, due to the complicated weather conditions Lelchitsy rescue teams have been put to high alert status. Duty units investigate all flooding calls. Special equipment of the local emergency units and district enterprises is used to pump out the water. In last 24 hours rescue rangers pumped out water from cellars of private households, dairy farms, and other facilities.
