Gomel oblast plans to reduce energy consumption by 12% in 2008

Due to new technologies and up-to-date energy-saving units, in 2008, the Gomel oblast plans to reduce energy-consumption by 12%. According to specialists, at present the Gomel oblast, which has a lot of industrial companies, consumes so much energy as the Brest and the Grodno oblasts taken one with another. This year, mini-heat power plant is expected to be launched in Petrikov, a biogas plant – in the Gomel region and a new power plant will be started to be designed in the Oktyabrsky region. According to specialists, the local authorities will attach a special attention to renovation of heat-power stations.
