Gomel oblast opens new oil deposit

Specialists of the Belgeologia Company have opened a new oil deposit in the Svetlogorsk region of the Gomel oblast, BelTA learnt from Yaroslav Gribnik, the chief oil and gas geologist of the company. The cumulative oil encroachment is projected at the level of 8 cubic meters of light oil per day. According to specialists, this oil has rather good characteristics. In particular, its average specific gravity is 0.86 grams per cubic centimeter. In the near future, specialists of the Belgeologia Company will increase the geological exploration in the Gomel oblast. In November this year, the company is expected to start sinking a new bore (4.3 thousand meters). The search of new oil deposits and their exploration are foreseen by the state programme of exploration works on development of the mineral resources base of the Republic of Belarus for 2006-2010 and for the period till 2020. In line with the document, Belarusian specialists will increase the national fuel and energy potential, carry out the search and exploration of new deposits of construction materials and other kinds of nonmetallic feed.
