Gomel, Aberdeen schools sign joint education agreement

Schools of Gomel (Belarus) and Aberdeen (Great Britain) signed an agreement on joint education. Today Gomel city executive committee welcome Belarusian and Scottish teachers and students. Director of Gomel secondary school #72 Galina Bui told BelTA, last autumn a group of Belarusian students and teachers attended lessons at a Scottish school for several weeks. Now the Scottish students arrived in Gomel. A teacher of the Aberdeen school believes, “The partnership will allow young people to get to know each other better and destroy existing stereotypes”. Speaking about future cooperation prospects, Galina Bui noted, they plan to consider constant exchange of teachers and students. Besides, teachers and students of the two schools are ready to launch new education projects. Besides, next week Gomel’s linguistic gymnasium will welcome another group of Aberdeen students. The visit will be held as part of the signed education agreement. Aberdeen is a city in Scotland inhabited by some 300,000 people. Gomel and Aberdeen signed a twin city agreement on June 17, 1990.
