USD 2 billion allocated for program on mitigation of consequences of Chernobyl catastrophe by 2010

About USD 2 billion were allocated for the fourth state program on mitigation of consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe for 2006-2010, the president of Belarus declared during a meeting with residents of the town of Bragin.
According to him, the program envisages step-by-step rehabilitation of contaminated regions and people inhabiting them. According to the president, the core target is to set up normal living and working conditions. “The essence of the approach is to make the people living in the affected regions masters of their future,” the president added.
