International camp Friendship 2007 to gather over 1,000 Belarusians, Ukrainians, Russians

An international youth camp Friendship 2007 will open near the Friendship Monument at the junction of the borders of three Slavonic countries tomorrow. On the eve of the Youth Day the camp will gather young people from Belarus, Ukraine and Russia just like it did in recent years. BelTA learnt from representatives of the youth affairs department of the Gomel oblast administration, this year the international tent camp is organised by the Chernihiv oblast administration of Ukraine. The camp is expected to gather over one thousand young people representing various regions of the bordering states. They are in for three days of recreation and entertainment. According to the source, one day will be dedicated to one participating country. The delegations will have to represent their countries to the best of their abilities. The day of Ukraine, June 21, will feature various contests and sport competitions as well as concert by young rock music bands “In the circle of friends”. The day of Belarus, June 22, will open with a morning exercise by fitness coaches. It will continue with panel games of the Club of the Cheerful and Sharp-Witted, a quiz “What? Where? When?”, a presentation of social projects and a meeting of leaders of youth organisations. On the day of Russia, June 23, campers are in for military patriotic games, interest group discussions, and a roundtable session dedicated to the most topical problems the youth have. A hairdresser’s competition, a historically recreated fencing and a draughts tournament are also on the holiday schedule. The camp will be closed on June 23 with a gala concert of music ensembles of the bordering oblasts and fireworks. The next day the young people will take part in a traditional borderline festival Slavonic Brotherhood near the Friendship Monument.
