Gleb Pavlovskiy: Belarusian model of development is of interest to Russia

Well-known Russian political scientist, adviser to the chief of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation Gleb Pavlovskiy has stated today that the Belarusian model of development is of interest to Russia “The Belarusian model is interesting as a unique experience of progress from the ruined economy of the early 1990s and the then fears and chaos to the society which is probably more consolidated than the Russian society”, Gleb Pavlovskiy has told Belarusian reporters. According to him, the issues of the Belarusian model have run all through the interview of president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the program “Real Politics” with Gleb Pavlovskiy" (NTV channel). “I want to understand one thing: how the Belarusian model of a European, sovereign, democratic and economically sound state, which differs greatly from other neighboring countries, works. It is interesting for Russia because it is entering the period of systematization of the political order. We have the Constitution which is a fundamental scheme of a state. However it takes time to understand how to build the system of life. Russia questions itself how its model should look like in the future, what, in fact, we have been building, what state our children will live in”, Gleb Pavlovksiy said. Sharing his impressions of the interview he stressed: “The openness of the interview was very intriguing, in my opinion. It is not typical of politicians. Alexander Grigorievich is a very experienced politician. His openness means that his policy has been a success”. Accordign to Gleb Pavlovskiy, the Belarusian leader offers “a clever policy of small deeds, i.e. to address actual issues in the Union State integration which will impact the quality of life of Belarusians and Russians, to grow the feeling in our citizens that we live in the single space and to advance step by step in this direction leaving behind some global problems to be settled in the distant, more favourable future”.
