Draft agreement on opening representative office of European Commission in Belarus initialed

A draft agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the Commission of the European Communities on establishing, privileges and immunities of the Representative Office of the Commission of the European Communities in Belarus has been initialed. The negotiations on the document in question were held on November 5 in the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Taking part in the negotiations were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Valery Voronetsky and head of the representative office of the European Commission in Ukraine Yen Boug.
The parties agreed that the purpose of the representative office of the European Commission in Belarus will be promoting and strengthening of friendly relations and cooperation between Belarus and the European Union, BelTA learnt in the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
The draft agreement will be sent to higher authorities of Belarus and the European Union.
