Council of Republic approves appointment of Lydia Yermoshina CEC chairperson

At an extraordinary session today the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus has given its consent to appoint Lydia Ermoshina chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus /CEC/. In line with the Belarusian constitution six members of the Commission are appointed by the president and six are elected by the Council of the Republic. A candidature of the CEC commission should be approved by the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament.
