Belarusian-Vietnamese dialogue is dynamically developing, Alexander Lukashenko says
20 August 2007
On August 20 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko met with Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Le Hong Anh.
According to the President, in the next few months Vietnam will host a Belarusian-Vietnamese top level meeting where the heads of state will discuss all-round bilateral cooperation.
The President stressed that the Belarusian-Vietnamese relations have been dynamically developing. “Vietnam is a very important country in South-East Asia for Belarus. This is a firm foothold for our country in the region as well as Belarus is Vietnam’s foothold in Europe,” the President said.
Alexander Lukashenko pointed to the advanced development of the trade-economic relations between the two countries. In his words every year the trade turnover grows by 25% on average. Nonetheless the $49.3m turnover does not meet the modern-day potential of the two countries, the Belarusian leader believes.
According to him, Belarus and Vietnam produce great number of goods they can trade in. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that before his visit to Vietnam the opportunities of reaching agreements promoting the bilateral trade-economic relations will be thoroughly considered.
The interaction between the law enforcement bodies of Belarus and Vietnam is the most efficient in the whole spectrum of the Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation, the President believes. “The agreements between the Interior Ministry of Belarus and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam reached in Minsk will be laid in foundation of the security spheres of the two states,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
Speaking about the national security of the two states, Alexander Lukashenko noted that “Belarus will settle any problem be it a problem of the state importance or a problem of a specific Vietnamese individual if such a request comes from the Vietnamese party”.
Belarus and Vietnam hold the same positions on the issues of the international agenda and closely cooperate in the international arena, the Belarusian leader stressed.
In turn, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Le Hong Anh conveyed greetings to the President of Belarus from the Secretary-General of the Communist Party and the President of Vietnam. The Minister of Public Security of Vietnam said that the President of Vietnam is getting ready to meet with Alexander Lukashenko in the next few months.
Le Hong Anh thanked the Belarusian side for the assistance provided to the delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security during the visit in Minsk.
